Anyone whose removed steering column in here plz

Directly from shoebox's website
"Verify your auto transmission selector is in PARK. Remove the automatic transmission park/lock cable from ignition switch, by grasping it near the back of the switch and pulling straight out, unsnapping cable from switch. You manual transmission folks don't have to worry about this step. "

Is that just the long black cable that goes into the back of the ignition switch? I just pull on it till it slips out right? I tried, but was scared I might break it, just wanted to make sure im pulling on the right thing before I break something

Thanks.

Yes, I believe it is. I don't really remember from when I did my ignition switch though.

Yeah, you just pull straight out on it. I will probably seem tight, but you won't hurt the old ignition switch. I don't think the cable can be hurt-there is not much to it.

Man I dont get it...Im pulling as hard as I can up in there. It moves out about half an inch and clicks, and just stops. Cars in park. Is there something else that may lock it in place?

Im looking at the new one and dont see anything.

Is the key in the LOCK position?

Well I got it done..thanks again shoebox.
I never got the steering column out, for some reason it didnt want to come out. So I just did it with it hanging down. Took a bit of effort, but finally got it.
