Anyone using an ASM monoblade?
Anyone using an ASM monoblade?
Is anybody using an ASM monoblade thorttle body? What all is involved in getting them to bolt in? I would imiagein it would flow much better than even a 58MM would since it wouldnt have such a restiction in the middle. I never had the stock LT1 intake apart though(As in throttle body off) How much work is it to get them machined out so that the thorttle body will work on it? Do the stock sensors fit correctly so that its pretty much a bolt in installation other than having to machine the intake out?
Re: Anyone using an ASM monoblade?
It isn't a bolt on but not a big hastle, but a bit of work.
If ya ain't making 525RWHP ya don't need it. It flows 1300CFM and the normal 383 can use a 58MM to better advantage.

Re: Anyone using an ASM monoblade?
Thanks guys,
The car WILL make 600RWHP when im done with it.
Im either building a low compression procharged 383, or some kind of twin turbo set up.
1RacerDude, what all is involved? Is it any harder than doing it for a twin 58MM? Either way Ill have to take the intake off, I just dont want to go and do it and then have crazy suprises ...

Re: Anyone using an ASM monoblade?
Alvin, I'd be interested in it, just not quite yet? It would be late springish when I have the money for it probably.
Theres no real good pictures of it, but is there any way to take the stock TB spring and fit it to that one, that way its enough spring to shut it between shifts?
So you guys overall, dont think it would be worth it for a 600RWHP motor, that will be forced induction?

Re: Anyone using an ASM monoblade?
I have heard many arguements about the monoblade.
One is that it makes driving around town difficult because the slightest throttle is almost too much. And one potential problem I see if you have to remove the IAC port in the intake which will could hurt the idle... youd be forced to crack the TB blade or drill holes in it(I wouldnt advise that though).

Oic, I dont think that that would bother me, it being real touchy. I wondered how the IAC worked on it though? Its impossible to find any information about it online ...

Its not as touchy as you would think. The only problem I have is the damn throttle returning fast enough.
Re: Anyone using an ASM monoblade?
Do you know if theres anyway I could put a stiffer spring on it? Is the stocker stiffer than it? Could you even put the stock return spring on it? I never tore one of our throttle bodies apart so ... ?
I am interested in it though. Just wont have the $$$ for a few weeks.
Also, would I have to have a shop port my intake to it? Or could if be done pretty easily?
