Anyone use header wrap?

One of my spark plug wire boots is about 1/8 of an inch from my header and I keep burning up wires. I thought I could use the header wrap in just that area. Anyone tried it?

Absolutely not!!!
I would recommend getting some of the Moroso "Heat Sleeves". I believe they are made by Moroso. They are slid around your plug wires to prevent burning. Think of how hot those header primaries get, I would not feel safe with a tape wrapped around that scorching hot header pipes.

tha actual wrap material is safe enough, it's meant to take it.... unfortunately, it completely insulates the headers, so they have no place to dissapate the heat. The tape will cause the headers to rust out, essentially eating themselves.

OK I know the wrap will withstand the heat because we use the on some of our equipment at work, but do you think if i wrap 2 inches of the header will it still affect it as bad? The problem with a boot cover is if i put that on It will be touching the header.
thanx

it can be used in short sections of a header pipe without much problem. as long as you give the header pipe a chance to dissapate the heat somewhere. just make sure it stays clear of the wires, etc.

Header wrap is actually expensive, IMO, and for a little bit more you can get your heads ceramic coated which really helped my spark plug boot issues. I paid $250 shipped to get my LT's coated from Jet Hot.

With those plug sleeves is it ok to touch the header?
Those things are rated at 1200 degrees! It should be ok to slightly touch the header right?

I have some actual header wrap around just the top area by a couple of the really close plugs. Header wrap is really expensive but it has served as a temporary solution. I will think of something better this winter,

I have the Hooker longtubes, and for the #5 cylinder I use the Accell P526S shorty header plug and one of the factory metal boot covers.
