anyone smog their LT1 on the new CA smog2?
Just wondering how many of you guys passed/failed your LT1s on the new CA's "rolling dyno" smog?
Reason being, I have to smog the 1994 z28 soon. its got no egr pipe and no cat, but I am having midas/meineke weld one on this monday. Motor is otherwise stock.
I am praying that I pass smog! I can't afford to fail.
How much stricter is the new smog? I'd love to hear pass/fail stories and feedback.
P.S - CA sucks!

on a stock car i think youd want the egr to work and the cat as well other wise you should be fine. im guessing anyway. we have roller tests in my area. as long as the emmisions equipment is there on a stock car you shoudl be fine.
I would put all things back on. As for 94 in CA they are know as smog polluters. Is your upcoming test a smog test, or test only? If you get a renew notice with test only you have been put on the hit list. I was on the test only and pass by one point away from failing.

I passed by a mile. It seems every time I have to go for smog, the limits on HC & NOX get more stringent. It doesn't make any sense at all, those limit numbers should get greater over time, not less. Everything should be hooked up, especially the egr w/ a stock cam. With the hotcam, you don't even need the egr to pass.
JUst a note about making your cat converter last longer. Have the a.i.r. hooked up and do not run the engine in open loop. I did and it fried the converter after awhile. You will most likely fail without the converter on the car.

Mine passed it twice before I moved to Hawaii. You will need the EGR fer sure. Those grease monkeys check for it.
Put everything that needs to be there and you will pass if your engine is running good.
is your cam stock? Mine is.
