I have shorties i think their one of the best out there.They fit great just make sure you route your wires away from them.

i like mine. Plugs aren't much better than stock. You need to go single cats if you want to make any power with them. I assume emissions isn't a issue since you are going 383.

 

The ones made for the dual-cat cars are a little different then the ones made for the single-cat cars, and from what I have heard on this board, the headers for the 96-97 Z28s aren't worth the price SLP asks for them. Using the single-cat ones on your 97 would be the way to go. I have the dual-cat design headers, and honestly, I didn't feel a huge improvement after installing them. I have ported heads and a cam though, so I guess something is better than nothing. If I were to do it over though, I would buy the Hooker Long tubes. Good luck.

 

Either get the 94-95 style SLP single cat headers(I have them, they rock) or get long tubes. From what I have heard on here I would not bother with the dual cat shorties. I gained about 2mph in the 1/8 with SLP headers and off road Y pipe.

How was the install?

 

i have the 94-95 style on mine. i like them, plus it got rid of the crap they call a better flowing dual cat setup

install was a lil PITA but it was worth it

 

They are absolutely fantastic. I was VERY impressed.

 

Install was a pain, but it's just something you have to do. I had to remove the starter, alternator, oil filter, steering shaft etc. but didn't have to jack up the motor, so that was ok.

How is your plug access?
And are yours coated or stainless steel, if they are stainless steel how well did they hold up?

I've got 94/95's uncoated, yes they are stainless steel. Plug access is ok, not the best compared to other shorty headers like Macs but not too bad. I change all my plugs with them in about 2hrs. Mine have been in for 10K miles now, they just have some mild surface rust/discoloration. I was very happy with the gains I saw from them, nice SOTP feel, 2mph & 2/10 in the 1/4.

I love mine too, my friend switched his Hooker long tubes for these

 

I have the 94-95 design and they have been problem free for almost 5 years. Plug access on a few like #5 & #6 is difficult. I'd recommend them.

 

plug access if good. i can change my plugs in 30-40 minutes (depends on the beer breaks)
