Anyone sell or suggest kits of mods that go well together and real results?
I'd say that sounds like a pretty good plan to start with. I'm not a big fan of the hotcam either, but you've got the right idea with splitting it all up that way. I think as you research things more and get a feel for what others have done with different cam set-ups, you'll lean more towards putting a package together yourself. There's nothing worse than spending all that time and money doing a cam swap, just to tear it all out when you decide to go with something bigger...
I've read on some site that my 6 speed Tremec T56 trans will hold up to about 500hp from the factory. They even use it on vipers.
My problem is tho, something in my drivetrain doesn't feel quite TIGHT. Feels kindof loose. I can revolve manually the driveshaft about 10 degrees. Part of the problem is my dif gears have been damaged due to bad installation at a service once, i got them back as they should be but it's gained some in tolerance since. But i'm more worried about my trans.
As far as i know it's been run with the original fluid for 55k miles until i changed it 1k ago (it was BLACK with faint red color). It shifts ok BUT sometimes it's hard to go 1-2, feels like something comes between and makes it harder to go in (also 3-2). Also i've done something stupid once, went 2-1 instead of 2-3 on full throttle. Wheels locked and i got it out but i'm worried if didn't hurt it (also did this with 3-2 instead of 3-4 but didn't fell that horrible). Also sometimes it goes in 1st half way and when i accelerate it goes BOOM and out of gear, everything shakes feels really nasty. I'm wondering why it can only go in half way ?!?!?!? I've only done this 3 times or something by mistake / not paying attention.
Should i worry, is there anything i can do to make myself feel more safe? When should i go get it serviced, change the worn out parts inside or something?
Also my car "sais" it has 57k miles. I'm not sure it's not been tampered with... It runs ok mostly but it dynoed (not really reliable dyno either) for up to 270 at the engine. When i bought it it ran 224hp it was a MESS. Changed mostly everything related to ignition and fuel delivery. It still idles not perfectly, and feels just a little shaky (compared to "Chopper" sounds it used to make running with misfires and bad injectors on 2-3 cyls). I'm also wondering should i consider going inside the engine, maybe something's really wrong inside? What can go bust INSIDE if you run a car to the ground like that? Maybe i can get everything back in shape when i do the cam mod, but i'd like to know what could be wrong
Oh and one more thing, where can i get a decently priced soft top? I've noticed they come in plastic-like or cloth-like (the original is cloth). I'd like to keep the sexy aspect cloth gives it but i've only found it for almost 1k dolars!
