Anyone see gains at the track by switching to an aluminum driveshaft?
I did a search and couldn't really find what I was looking for, but what I really wanna know is if anyone saw any positive gains et wise or hp wise at the track or on the dyno by switching from the steel driveshaft to an ls1 or 1le aluminum driveshaft. I am basically trying to push my car into the 12's this year for as cheap as possible and then next spring is when I will add the higher stall converter to put me deeper into the 12's. My current best time is in my sig and I only went to the track once this year to achieve that. Anyone think the addition of the aluminum driveshaft could push me into a very high 12?
Edit: I did a little more searching and found that on the dyno on ws6.com they gained average 1.8 hp and 5.5 lbs tourque....anyone think that is enough to push me to a 12 on a good weather night?

A slight tail wind will put you in the 12's. Find a used stall in the For sale section, Put it in yourself, & go deep in the 12's. Where you are now with mods it would be the absolute Best mod you can do.

well true I could get a cheap stall and go 12's, but I am a firm believer that you need to do things right the first time...so when I do get a stall I want it to be a nice 3000 or 3200, with a tranny cooler and a shift kit (and possibly a tranny rebuild kit) it all adds up and right now I don't really wanna spend the money on all that, cause I am starting back up in college here in a week.

I agree! I would look for something around 2400 stall. You could push it to 3000 stall, but you might just as well kiss that 10 bolt good bye.
I've got a 3200 stall in mine and the rear is fine
However, its not fun to drive anymore unless you nail it
