I'm thinking about getting some better heads and running the 230/236 xfi camshaft, but does anyone have any results with these cams yet?

I've got the biggest LT1 XFI cam in my Golen 396 and it just ran 11.22 @ 119.31 (all N/A)! I think the new XFI cam is great and I couldn't be more happy with it. Also, I used the Comp beehive springs and Crane 1.6RRs. Bryan Herter (PCMforLess) did the tuning. I'm changing the gears and slicks off-season. Even with the 11.22 I'm still leaving a few tenths on the table.

Which beehive springs did you run? The 918's? With the larger XFI cams I would use the larger beehives, I think they're 120's or something.

Yes, I have the 918s, which are the beehives Comp recommends for the XFI cams. With the 1.6RRs, and the largest XFI cam #07-468-8, my lift is .584 IN and .579 EX. The 918s handle that lift without any problem. I also have Crane custom length 3/8" cromoly pushrods.

Someone mentioned they have the baby XFI cam and it "sounds stock." With my engine and the "biggest" XFI cam (396 CI, AFR LT4 195 heads w/ 12.2-1 compression and Kooks headers w/ dual-open collectors) my car sounds more like Warren Johnson's pro-stock car than stock!

I will try to get a sound clip of the XFI268, but after the tuning and break in, it's almost deceiving, I want to put a good flowing stock looking system on and put my 16" salad shooters back on

Engineer what is your intake valve closing ABDC on the 07-468-8?

I've got the big-dog XFI (242/248), in a 350 with ported Trickflow heads. It's a monster from 4000-6800. Likes to idle around 900-1000. Will have track times soon, but my butt-o-meter says mid 11's.

I can't wait to get mine in. I found one that uses two intake lobes to increase the lift on the exhaust side.

LMAO, I get soooo many compliments on the sound of my car now. Sitting at a light, people just stare and gawk.

P.S.---pacesetter LT's, magnaflow cat-back, th350 4000rpm stall.

I'm always thinking outside the box. So, when it came time to pick a cam for my new 396, I was looking for something high-tech, new and different (everyone talks about the same ole LT cams over and over here on the forum).

Basically, I wanted a cam that would match the expected torque range of the 396 stroker and AFR 195 heads (not an extremely high RPM engine). I think I hit a home-run with the XFI cam and my engine. After I change the rear-end off-season and go to 4.30s w/ 28" slicks, I hope to see some 10s next season (all N/A).

My friend and I installed the XFI242/248 cam in his 97 Z28 last spring. Its a stock bottom end, mildly ported LT1 castings with stock sized Manley valve, ported intake, BBK 58mm, 30lb injectors, Hooker longtubes, and Flowmaster cat back with a cutout, built trans by www.RPMtransmissions.com, 3600 Yank converter and 3.73s on 255/50/16 drag radials. The car still needs some tuning and it needs to shift WAY higher (only around 6100rpm right now) Its best 1/8 mile pass was 7.8@89mph with a 1.7 60foot. It went 12.4@112 with a 1.9 60 foot still only shifting at 6100rpm. Here is a vid of the 7.8sec 1/8 mile run.

Here is the 12.3 run. We thought something happend to the motor on this run because the converter locked up so soon. It wasnt even set to lock up in the tune. So we were suprised.

Yeah it is. very disappointed. But like posted with the vid. It was the first run of the year and it was about 80 degrees. Along with the bad/off tuning. It was just a shackdown run. He doesnt get to the track much, so improvements are going to have to wait till next spring. Dyno tuning is going to happen within the next month or 2 though.
