Anyone running a Comp Cams XE230-236 or a cam with similar numbers?

I was recommended this cam from the guy who did my port/polish head work. My question is will my I have enough stock pistons/valve clearence when I install this cam. If anyone has used this cam, or a cam with similar numbers, and had no problems let me know. I want to avoid intalling everything, manually crank the engine, measuring the distance, and reinstalling everything again.

The specs on the XE grind.

I have been running this cam in my car with STOCK heads and STOCK head gaskets for about one year now with NO problems whatsoever. When you had your heads ported and polished, did you have them milled, (i.e. decked) also?

I'm thinking of having my stock heads milled/decked .020" and using the Impala (.039") head gaskets when I pull them for porting and polishing, and I'm kind of wondering what this might do to piston to valve clearence also??? But again, with the stock head setup I currently have with the XE 230/236 cam, I regularly shift the motor at 6,500RPM with NO problems. Hope this helps

The heads were broached and I'm using a different head gasket than the one supplied with the LT4 kit. I bought the LT4 conversion kit, but then decided to scrap the Hot cam set-up to go with a more aggressive cam. Hopefully someone else has had ther heads milled/broached and had no clearence issues. The install will probably start next weekend.

I am running that cam. The heads I got from Lloyd were milled 0.030" and I am using the Impala gaskets that measure 0.029" compressed. It makes for 11.8:1 compression, but it runs fine on California 91 octane MTBE gas. I don't have any problems with interference on a stock bottom end. YMMV.

I ran this cam for 1 year, only difference was mine was on a 110 LSA. You will have no problems with clearence issues. DO NOT over rev this cam with a stock bottom end. I bracket raced with this cam and shifted at 6100 Rpm. After 1 season the bottom end decided it had enough and puked on me. I ran 12.22 @ 112 MPH with it, and since then sold the cam to a friend and he has run 12.os with it. Mine was very lopey , but like I said before it was on a 110 LSA. Good luck and have fun.
