Anyone run the lt1 to lt4 conversion?!
Re: Anyone run the lt1 to lt4 conversion?!
I would personally stay away from the LT4 package unless you are going to port the heads and get a different came. THey make good power for what you are doing but for the money you can get a kick *** kit from Lloyd. I know when I do my 383 I am doing a Golen/Lloyd package. Seen very good numbers from that set up.
Just FYI, I recently raced a LT4 converted 96 T/A here last week. With nitrous and MINOR bolt ons I had him by around 2-3 cars. With the LT4 setup you will run with stock to bolt on LS1's. But as stated before, money can be spent wisely somewhere else.

So if a custom cam grinders work is "proven" you are saying that it would not be wise to go with that work. Or??
Re: Anyone run the lt1 to lt4 conversion?!
i wouldnt go with anything else but a custom grind. It is matched to your components and made to run like you want it to. What could be worse than that. Off the shelve grinds are just common cams that have worked for people but you almost have to build your motor around the cam.

Re: Anyone run the lt1 to lt4 conversion?!
if a custom grind cam is proven, thats different... if its not proven and your pulling specs out of your *** thats different... i called comp and they recommended a different cam for me... but then i called a different company, and loved one of their cams... the only thing i decided to do was change the LSA since Im running a n/a motor... dont pull specs out of your ***... read what works... a custom grind cam with no feedback is playing the lottery.

You should review some of the info in here:

Re: Anyone run the lt1 to lt4 conversion?!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but stock for stock LT4 heads flow better than LT1 heads. Ported LT1 heads flow better than Stock LT4 heads and Ported LT4 heads flow better than Ported LT1 heads right?
Wouldn't you make more power by switching to the LT4 setup and then porting out the heads and intake and putting in a custom cam?

Re: Anyone run the lt1 to lt4 conversion?!
You could but ported LT1 castings are all most 350s need. If going all out then you could look at porting LT4s or aftermarket castings.
Custom cams can be good if put together by a knowledgable person, I think there are a lot more grinders out there than people who know how to spec a truely great custom cam, it is more than lift duration and LSA.

well, it just depends is the little amount of HP difference with Ported LT4's gonna be worth $1400 for the heads, when you can save about 1400 and get almost the same HP.
