Anyone run 18 degree heads?

I know they have to be machined for reverse flow and require shaft mount rockers and what not. Just curious if anyone on the board is running them. Also, what kind of budget is needed... is it in the $5K range or the $15K range?

Re: Anyone run 18 degree heads?

Some guys are running them Mindgame comes to ming around here. He is running 15 deg heads. Those are 18 deg GM castings that are rolled 3 degs to get the valve angle shorter.

As for cost you could have them CNC'ed from a place like Weld Tech, that's going to be around $3100-$4500 for castings and porting, valves if they are steel will be in the $300-$400 range for those heads. (due to the lengths and head diameters only coming in competition series valves) The springs/retainers/locks are in the $200-$500 range depending on the material of the springs and the cam you are running. Shaft mounts usually cost about $800-$1200 a set. Then the cost of converting the heads is about $300-$800 depending on where you go. Throw in a single plane intake or a sheetmetal intake for a 18 deg head you are looking at $300+ for a casting plus porting work. So you are looking at around $5000+ for the heads on the motor. You still need 18 deg pistons and 18 deg headers for the car.
