Anyone put and LT4 block in an F-body?
Anyone put and LT4 block in an F-body?
I'm looking to upgrade to LT-4 heads and intake and have seen a couple of LT-4 long blocks for sale. It seems like a cheap way to get a 4 bolt main, but I'm not sure swapping the oil pan from a vette to an f-body.
Are there clearance problems or oil pump issues? Also, are LT4 pistons more prone to problems from N20? I'm going to run a CC305 cam with a 100 NX shot. Any help is appreciated.

The world's quickest stock suspension LT1, George Baxter's 9.04-second/155mph 3,900# 30th SS Convert, was built with a 4-bolt main LT1 block.
In fact, there is no such thing as an "LT4" block, just the 4-bolt main LT1 block that was used in all Corvette LT1's, the '96 LT4, and the '97 LT4 F-Bodys mentioned in the post above. There is absolutely no difference between the two blocks other than the 4-bolts. The F-Body LT1 pan fits fine.... ALL the F-Body parts fit fine, because ist exactly the same block, except for the main cap bolts.
The LT4 pistons have different valve reliefs (the main reason for the slightly higher compression ratio), and required some "pre-cambered" (or "twisted") rings to avoid ring flutter. I don't see any advantage in using them.

Cool, I know the 4-bolts are an LT1, but a true LT4 has lighter pistons as well. The main thing I was worried about was the f-body oil pan clearing the new mains and the pickup being at the right height.
I have found an LT4 longblock, and since I want the heads and intake anyway, I figured why not drop the 4-bolt engine with lighter pistons in there?
Thanks for the help
