Anyone with pacesetters have to shave steering shaft bolt....

The top bolt on the steering shaft rubs the headers bad when I turn to steer with my pacesetter LT's. The top of the bolt I grinded down and it clears now. However the bottom thread part that goes through the shaft is also hitting so I have to cut the bolt a bit shorter. I haven't heard of anyone with this problem so what gives?

Thanks

Adam

Try sliding the shaft down some up on top and see if the bolt clears. My bolt doesn't have any issues but the shaft itself does have a clearance issue with one of the primarys under heave acceleration. I think it may be from worn out engine mounts allowing the engine to torque over to far.

I've only got slp (93 style) mid length's but I'm gonna do long tubes soon...

I'm running SOLID mounts.... No Flex here But I would assume thats the problem...

I hate to say it, but I'd never buy pacesetter parts ever again.

I bought a set of pacesetter shorties for the Z long ago - and never again. Firstly the welds looked like ***, the bolt holes in the flange didnt line up perfectly, there was no way to get two of the bolts on the flanges on (the head of any bolt I could get would rest on the weld and not the flange) and the air rise pipe for the EGR wasnt spaced properly at all (hole was I think .25" off!!)

Then one of the primaries wouldnt allow a spark plug to go in. Not even a plug designed for headers. It was stupid.

I called tech support and complained and tried to find out why I was having these problems. Kept talking with them over and over again. Nothing. They kept telling me I didnt know what I was doing and kept saying that my problems werent happening. I even took pictures to send them with calipers showing distances and how bad they were... After nearly 2 weeks of complaints I finally got someone that would refund my money. Turns out they had several sets from a shop in Mexico that failed QC but still went out the door several months earlier and I probably got one of those sets. I got my money back - but never was treated so badly in my life. If I got a bad set, it happens. But when you have a customer saying "this hole is the wrong dimension, I measured it with my calipers and it's this ___"... you dont tell them "no it isnt, you dont know what you're doing." Then to admit fault later and shrug it off "Oh, you just got a bad set." Really? I thought they were fine!

Compared to every other aftermarket part on my car - I've never had anything that bad. Ever.

Things have changed since then. Their LTs are lightyears ahead of the shorties.

Then would be a year ago...

If things are better then cool - but I'm still staying away from anything they make. This isnt the first pacesetter fitment/quality problem I've had with them. And someone had told me "they were better now" when I got the shorties. Things werent.

All is well. Had to cut some of the bottom threaded part of the bolt down and shave the steering linkage. Everything works like a champ.
