anyone with NO leakage or dipstick problems with a Canton pan?

Ok, just put the motor in this weekend and the Canton Pan hits the K-member/steering rack. I just found out that there are other issues with this pan. So, I'm trying to figure out what to do about this pan debacle. I'd certainly like to keep using my Canton pan, but not if its going to leak (supposedly it'll leak from the welds!!! thats just unacceptable). Also, what to do about the dipstick problems? Supposedly, it doesn't go all the way in making it impossible to measure the oil level properly?

I'd like to use this pan because i've already got my oil return fitting (for the turbo) welded in ... so it'd be nice to use it! This is Joel Hester's old pan so i know its been used before... perhaps he solved some of the problems before getting ride of it? anyone know?
