Anyone knows if our starter stays engaged???

I was just curious because I put my motor back together and cranked it. I was pre-oiling the motor and it sounded weird, that was because I had the plugs out it was just winding. I took off the converter cover and saw the starter engaged. It stays that way???

The starter drive should pull back away from the flywheel (Disengage).. Something isn't right.

Fond out what it was. The starter will stay engaged until the motor rotates on its own then pressure is taken off of it allowing it to go back.

thanks for the help anyway guys.
