Anyone here ever send back their Jet-Hot's?
Anyone here ever send back their Jet-Hot's?
Man oh man. I took a look at my jet hot's from under the car last night
Well even with the limited driving I have done this winter, the dam chicago winter took their toll on my poor jet-hot's. This is my DD, so I can understand that the coating didn't hold up a full year. Well surface rust crept up on them, as well as some of the under carrige. There is no way around it, unless I kept it out of the rain and snow, and garage keep it.
So I figured when I do the heads and cam, I'll send these suckers back out. They haven't really even been on a year. So for those of you who have sent your Jet-Hot's back for recoating under warranty........
How long did it take to get them back?
Did you have prove your purchase? I hope I still have my warranty card!!!
Am I better off just paying to have a local shop refurbish and recoat them?
Thanks guys.
Mike

Re: Anyone here ever send back their Jet-Hot's?
I am going to be sending mine in for recoating soon.
I just called up Jet Hot and they gave me that address to send them to.
He also gave me my customer number.
That was quite a few months ago so I don't know if the procedure has changed.
I'll be sending them back very shortly but I need to weld an EGR tube on mine because emissions are now required.

. Plus my car is a daily driver so I can't have it not running for however long it would take. Definitely don't get Jet-Hot for rust protection

I imagine that long tubes would make it hard to pass a sniffer.

Are the stainless steel headers 100% proven to never rust? Because I have seen stainless steel get surface rust before. So IMO why should I spend the extra 300-400 bucks when I still have a chance of them getting rust? Keep in mind I'm in the midwest.
Thanks for the input guys. Yea I normally wouldn't just take the time to pull them out to send them out for recoating. But later on this year when I have to do the heads and cam, it will be a perfect time to do so.

Some stainless steel will suffer from surface corrosion. 409 is the least expensive stainless and will show some surface rust, but it will last far, far longer than mild steel. The surface rust development is a property of the 409. 304 will stay good just about indefinitely. Hooker, Jet-Hots, and Pacesetters are all mild steel. The available coatings will help with corrosion and heat retention. SLP headers are 409 stainless. Kook's headers are 304 stainless.
