Anyone having luck with AutoZone opti's?

I figure since they're cheap... $130?? I'll slap one onboard and see if I can get my car running. P/N, btw?

Good to hear, they make them both vented and non-vented? I'll need to get a vented.

Put one on a buddies new 383. Went out after about 6,000 miles, but so did the new water pump and that drained all over the damned opti. I'm confident that thats why it went though. AZ replaced it no questions asked. Good buy if you ask me. Mike

You have a vented. Guess I'll stick with OEM.

They do have the optical sensor installed. (My car wouldnt run other wise, since it's had autozone optis installed since 1998) Depending on the location, Autozone sells the opti with the cap and rotor, or they'll sell the cap and rotor seperate from the opti. Either way, they do offer the complete opti.

I ran the non-vented Autozone opti on my car for over 4 years and never had a problem. Last year I switched to a vented opti, since I did a double roller/elec water pump converstion, and the autozone vented opti has been running fine.

Plus, it's got a lifetime warranty. Hard to beat in my opinion - well worth the money.

Yeah its only a cap and rotor, its not a sealed unit. Not even worth the trip. Mine isnt vented, but i would imagine they would sell them the same. Summit sells them now. Thats the best price your gonna find for the complete opti, brand new. I paid $477 for mine from a local auto shop, summits are like $389 or somthing like that.

Dal and jason sell them for 289-300 bucks..

Last i checked which was 3 years ago autozone sold only the cap and rotor.. I was royally pissed when they gave it to me after i waited 4 days for it to arrive... and when i put it in my car it worked for 20 seconds.

I had one for a few months. Worked fine for about 15 minutes, then it would just shut off, no spark at all. After about an hour it would work again. PUt a brand new GM unit on and problem solved.

The only good thing IMO is the warranty. I was able to get another one and sell it on ebay.
