Anyone have a set of LT1 castings handy??

Preferably ported, but not absolutely necessary. Need someone to take a look at the intake runners and tell me if ANY of the rocker stud holes come all the way through. Thanks.

No rocker arm studs should be seen inside the intake runners. Are yours visible? Not a good thing.

The holes go all the way through on the TFS heads as I noticed it today while at the engine shop. What I'm trying to find out is if the holes go through on a ported set of stock castings also. I'm not talking about the stud itself, just the hole for the stud. It's not going to be in every one, just on the TFS heads it was on three intake runners on each side IIRC.

Yeah, it's there. From what I understand, it's always going to go through when you have ported heads. Then again, I'm always open to the possiblity that I'm wrong.

Yes, once ported they usually go all the way through. Make sure to use thread sealant.

LE heads typically have break into the rocker stud hole...no biggie. I put a little sealant on the studs anyway.

Re: Anyone have a set of LT1 castings handy??

Thanks for the confirmation guys. Looks like I may have stumbled upon why my old motor/setup never ran right. I had replaced the studs at one point immediately after the new shortblock and never used sealant. I had NO CLUE that those holes went all the way through, much less that I could lose vacuum and seep oil through them.

Sure would explain my wacky (quickly wavering between 3-8/10 in/hg) vacuum signal since not every intake runner has a rocker stud hole that goes all the way through.

Oh well, too late to go back now.

Castings dont have the holes...when ported some vendors open the roofs up enough to break into the rocker stud hole.
