I believe that I may be a victim too. I get a light "tap tap tap" at warm idle only. Not there under load, when cruising, or when cold.

Oil psi is 20 when idle and warm... 40-50 when cruising warm.

I had considered rod knock, however... it's been going for thousands of miles now like this, and it's not getting any worse.

My tap noise is pretty loud. Do you know if a rist pin is dangerous for a car to keep driving it?

if a wrist pin comes out the connecting rod and the piston separate, so any number of things could happen. You would probably hear a loud clunk then some grinding noise.

So do you think I could eliminate that to be my problem? All I am hearing is the tapping noise The bearings are going to be replaced here shortly and I am just crossing my fingers that when we crank the car, that fixed the problem.

yeah if you can still drive the car then I would say that a wrist pin is not your problem. The bearings may fix it but are you rebuilding the whole motor or just replacing the bearings? If they crank has some wear to it, you might want to consider going through the whole thing. Prob not what you want to hear

Just doing the bearings... the crank looks new and you can still see the honed markings. There were very small flakes in my oil but I am just hoping that they came from the bearings and nothing else. Where else can the shavings come from?

Im gonna say that the metal flakes are from the bearings. Without seeing the motor there isnt a real good way to tell.
