Anyone have probs installing 17x9's ?

I put some 17x9's off a 98-99 SS today. The inside of the rim was too small to fit around the hub. I had to shave a little off to get them on. Anyone have similiar problems?

There may be exceptions, but almost everyone that puts late model wheels on the back has to do what you did. It is because they made the late model rear axle hubs with a smaller center, so they made the wheels with a correspondingly smaller hub opening. When you go to put the newer wheel on over the older hub, there is a slight clearance problem. The problem has been well publicized.

I had the same problem as you do. A dremil tool and about 5 minutes and I was in business. So pretty much what shoebox said.

Ok, will I have any problems though. I hope not. I noticed there's maybe a 1/2 inch from the inner rear tire to the fenderwall. Just barely fits in the rear.

Never had a rub from mine. They have been on for 3 years or so.

My ZR1s went on with zero problems. just a pita to get them aligned on the car so they slide on. But I bought them off Ryan, a board member who had them on his 96 Z28. His SN is like 96-6speed
