Re: Anyone have idle problems w/ a 58mm TB?

i have ridden in 2 different fbodys that were almost stock minus exhaust. both cars bogged hard in low rpm and after shifts. im sure a 350/5 race motor could use a 58mm, but last i checked we are not talking about a max output motor.

also with lt1 edit, no offense, but because you have it, doesnt mean you can handle it. that program is not easy. unless you know how a motor works to the t, and how everything comes together, you are looking for trouble.

lol.

I was one of the first to purchase LT1 Edit when it was first created. I have been using Edit for all my programming since 00. Doesn't mean that I can handle it? What is that supposed to mean?

I don't have any problems understanding or tearing a LT1 down to the bare
necessities and I don't have to defend my knowledge on any of this. The ones that "know" me, know

I was just trying to get opinions on the 58mm. And I appreciate your thoughts. There are always pros and cons to any "bolt-on" mod.

I work at a machine shop, and understand the risks completely, but I also trust Brent's pages 100% Especially since he did a few himself Why chance getting an infamous oil leak, when I can just use some extra steps in being careful?

I do realize how crazy it sounded when I posted the idea. I should have posted the link w/ it.

Re: Anyone have idle problems w/ a 58mm TB?

knowledge of how to tear down a motor has nothing to do with how the computer system operates it. im not trying to say you dont know what you are doing, but i havent talked to many people that can just "tune something out" when a part on the motor is changed. its not that easy. i am by no way any type of tuning guru, but it isnt near as easy as what you made it sound like.

in closing (also no disrespect intened) but i doubt that someone that is working at a machine shop that can easily tear into an lt1 and has a good working knowledge of lt1 edit that could tune out a bog at low rpm would be asking this question.

Ok, you win. I am an idiot, and have no knowledge or experience w/ LT1 cars. And I didn't think I made *tuning* sound easy.

Your second paragraph (no disrespect intended) wasn't really necessary. We don't "tear into engines" we machine CNC parts, weld, fabricate, do structural work, you name it, we can do it. I asked b/c I wanted to KNOW other people's experience w/ a 58mm TB. If you read the original post I made, you will see I did not ask how to tune out a "bog" problem.

It is always good to know if others have had problems w/ certain mods that
have been out there, and people have had experience with. I talked to a good friend of mine about this, www.carolinaautomasters.com, Jeff Creech, aka, milkman, and he said it would be a good addition to the mods I have, and I shouldn't have any real problems w/ it at all.

But thanks for assuming that you know the level and limits of my knowledge.
I hope this is over. Both sides have made their points.
