Anyone have a EST (electronic spark timing) control module

go bad, what did it do? How can you tell if you have a bad one?

right above the coil there is a module...

It is called the EST. Electronic Spark Timing control module, as stated in my book.

some people call it a ICM Ignition Control Module..

My book says EST module.

The Electronic Spark Control is the same as the knock sensor. If it is bad, it will definetely set off a code, and automatically pull max timing, and kill your horsepower.

Mod... or module

It is not the same as the knock module or sensor. It is just above the coil and attached to a finned aluminum bracket that is on the drivers head, take a look.

he was just comparing it to the knock sensor...u will know if they go bad, since your car will be a lot slower then usual.


Btw...i thikn u are talking about the ingition module

IT IS NOT the same as a knock sensor

The knock sensor and the est are two different components.

It's not called that on an F-body. The modue is the Ignition Coil[Control] Module (ICM). The circuit is the ignition control circuit.

ESC is the knock sensor circuitry, but he said EST not ESC.

well reading this right out of a book

EST Electronic Spartk Timing, it covers tuned port and the lt-1. Guess the book is wrong ICM then..
