Anyone got a Z06 MAF to work on an Lt1 yet?

looking for a way to get more air to my heads and one way i was thinking was to make the induction system larger. For this i was wondering if anyone has got the Z06 MAF to work in place of the stock size MAF on lt1 cars. Is there anyone out there that knows the tables to be programmed when using a Z06 MAF? Let me know what you did and what your setup consists of.

I've had it running mint for 3 years... send me an e-mail and I'll send you the excel spreadsheet of the table I'm running.

You may run into a roadblock with flowing more to your heads though, the Z06 actually maxes out the pcm input at lower flow numbers than the stock LT1 unit does.

trans9_5am@yahoo.com

That being said, what is the overall purpose of switching to the Z06 MAF? Just to have a larger size inlet tube? Let me know

I put it on because my stocker failed and I didn't want to spend the $300 for a replacement, the Z06 one only cost me like $120 with the adapter pigtail.

Ramchargers carries a Translator with allows you to use different MAFs on LT1 cars.

You can also change the fuel and timing curves with a twist of the **** with these devices. I use one on my Grand National which allows me to use an LS1 MAF. For LT1 use, it will also be able to bypass the max MAF code on supercharged applications. Doesn't say specifically that they have one for Z06 MAFs, but I'm sure they do because they have one now for the Turbo Regals to allow them to use Z06 MAFs. Give them a call to find out, if they don't know, I can get you in touch with the person that developed the Trans+, TurboBob on the Buick boards.

Nevermind, i know what speed density is. This is not the route i wish to take. I want to use a MAF system but i just want to know if there is a way to get the intake system to flow more air than through a Lt1 MAF.

To the provious guys that posted, i will take your advice and further check into your suggestions.

Heres my thoughts! I had originally done what everyone on here does and really shouldn't be and thats cut up the stock maf and descreen it!! Big no-no!! Yes it does allow more air to flow through but the computer never sees it per say and therefore does nothing for performance, Since each unit has an internal calibration for the volume of air that can go through it. Since I had done this and I was then rendered unable to tune for the destruction I had done and to get my car to run properly Ed Write made me an offer I could not refuse! 80.00 for one of his Z06 maf and 25.00 for a pigtail and since I had seen the cost of any of the aftermarket units and even the cost of the end pieces this was a deal and he knew how to tune the unit to my car. As for the tuning and tables I have no idea other than that the tables used for the stock B-cars (Impalla ss LT1) have a very close resemblence to what he started with to get his tune. From what I have heard the only real threat to suffocating the heads is the Throttle body. It is my understanding that the stock maf will flow enough air to feed the 58mm very well. Some of us just have overkilled the flow, unless you plan to run a supercharger, then the stock maf is sufficient in my opinion. This is just my .02

Re: Anyone got a Z06 MAF to work on an Lt1 yet?

Ok ill put the question this way....Is there a way to tell how much air you need to get to the heads by the flow numbers of the head. I have the flow numbers from when the heads were purchased and i need to know if my induction system is getting the needed amount of air to support these numbers. Say if you had a head that flows 300 CFM on the intake side, how much air do you need to get to the intake to get the FULL use of the 300 CFM from each valve in the heads? Is there a way to calculate the 'ideal' amount of air that you will need to get in the intake? I am not using a ram air system if that needs to be known.

Your MAF wont have the possibility of being the restriction until you get into a serious FI application.
