Here's a link to a guy who put a Pete Jackson gear drive in an LT1..... and took it out because he didn't like it.

Click on "My 94 Formula.....", and scroll down to the years 1999 and 2000.

As I recall, he couldn't stand the noise, and neither could his knock sensor

Used to have pictures of the modifications to the timing cover and everything on that site. Must have removed some of it after he totalled the car.

I would be far more interested in putting on a belt drive setup.

Re: anyone ever put a gear drive in an LT1 car?

hosspwr94 on this board is running one.
Here is a PM from him I got a while ago:

"I am running the quiet set but they get noisy after a while. I have updated to the vented style opti this helped make running the gears possible, I am also running an electric w.p. which is also a must to run the gears. I have heard of some of the guys having to grind on their covers but I didn't I don't know why they ground on theirs but mine fit just fine over the gears. I used this set PJJ-350-91C and I had to pull the dowel out further on my cam and get it just right.
Hope this helps If you have any other ?'s feel free to ask "

Re: anyone ever put a gear drive in an LT1 car?

You can get the noisy set if you get your car dyno tuned and disable your knock sensor. Also keep in mind that not all cams like open headers. (you will lose power with some) Just in case you were not aware of it.

Cutout and open headers are two different things. You will most likely still need your knock sensor disabled though. Not a big deal. I also have a 93 setup and I disabled it on mine. No problems just as log as you verify the air fuel ratio is good on a dyno.
