Anyone ever need a different hinge when using an aftermarket hood?

My body guy told me that my SLP Ram-Air hood doesn't line up with my existing hinges. Anyone have this problem?

your body guy should know that any aftermarket hood isn't going to be a straight bolt on. When I bought my slp ultra z hood for my 94z it took some time to mess with it. You have to try some things out. Kind of sounds to me like he is being lazy.

I tried to have him explain exactly what didn't line up, but he made it sound like the factory hinges just weren't in the right place, i dunno...

My ASCD SS style hood came with instructions to slot the stock brackets as the hood is thicker than the stock hood and therefore sits too high without the mod.

When I put my Suncoast creations ultra-z hood on, it didn’t want to shut down all the way. I also had a hard time getting it to even out on both sides. I have to grind the backs of both hinges I just don’t have the time right now. You can adjust the hinges up & down and the hood latch up & down. I cant believe that your body guy told you that without offering a solution to fix the problem. I would look for a new body guy!

My suncoast SS hood had a lot of things you had to do to the hinges.Including some grinding on the back of the hinges. But it's sits fine and looks stock.

Cool

I have the same hood as OBE1 95Z28 and I had to slot the stock brackets to have it bolt on. The rest of the adjustments that was needed since it was sitting alittle high on the back and also on the front it was alittle too close I left for the body shop to do. They mention to me that they had to shave a couple of spots on the hood but they got the hood to fit prefectly. As soon as I get my car from the paint shop I will post a link to my website or e-mail me so you can see the fittment and work they did to my hood to get it to fit. If you have any questions please feel free to e-mail me. Good luck

Hey guys, thanks alot for all the replies. My body guy called today and told me, "the cars all done." I asked him what was wrong with the hinges then? He paused for a minute and then he's like, "...I'm a idiot." I laughed and told whatever, as long as its done.... moron, i'll find out what he meant when I go to pick it up....can't wait. I'd love to post some pics if I can figure out how.
Thanks again
