Anyone else using ACCEL injectors?

I put a set of 30# Accel injectors in my '93 Z when I did my head/cam/kitchen sink swap. It runs extremely rich at idle, and dumps black smoke on a run.
I'm running 36 # of fuel pressure presently.
I've been told by the person that burned my chip (PCMFORLESS) that Accel has had alot of problems with their injectors. Has anyone else had problems with them?

I have the yellow ones.. though I did what someone on another board recommended.. remove the o-rings and xacto off any plastic casting flash.. there was a little.. Other than that no worries as of 7k miles.. guess we'll see..

running the accel 30#'s here and there was no way those things ran right until i tuned them! you need to change your injector offset and raise your injector flow rate to about 34 as to lean it out!

What did you change your offset #'s to?

Um...This is a '93. I have a replaceable chip. It was SUPPOSED to be burnt for the 30# injectors by PCMFORLESS. The person who burnt the chip swears it's not in his tune. He blames it all on the Accel injectors. Can you supply me with any info that I can go back to him with?

Hmmm. Rip on '93's, you say? Did I mention mine went 12.82 @ 105.9 MPH BEFORE I ever touched the engine? 94,000 miles and never had the valvecovers off...With exhaust manifolds. Check out the January '03 issue of GM HIGH TECH PERFORMANCE. I ranked 9th in the country in their "Bolt-On" shootout last year. That was with a Generic Hypertech chip in my non-programable computer...LOL
'93's may be a little harder to get right, but once they're right, they're hard to catch.

Is your 36psi of fuel pressure with the vacuum line off?
Is that what it was supposed to be set at per the chip burner?
Are you sure the state of tune on the car is up to snuff? O2's? Plugs, wires?
It's kind of hard to go back to the guy who did your programming and tell him that it's all his fault. Just make sure it's not something you're overlooking.

After that you should find a way to have your ve tables tuned. I've worked near miracles on a couple of 93's just by screwing with the ve tables for idle and part throttle.

New MSD 8.5MM wires, New Splitfire plugs, New TPS sensor, and New Optispark. No, I didn't replace the O2 sensors. I've checked them with my Snap-On scanner, and they're both about even @ 447 and 451 (cold, at idle-open loop) Freeze frame @ 788 and 863 (188 degrees, at 5000 RPMs- closed loop)
The 36# is with the vacuum hose connected. It's around 40-41 with it off.

Accel injectors are junk. I've seen them mismarked on more than one occasion.

One set of 24's were marked 36's.

Ed Wright has had the same problems with Accels also.

I had the same problem with #30 accel injectors, I had the chip burned, for them but it never ran right it would load up, rin really rich, I was having to change plugs all the time. I called ed wright and they explained to me that accel injectors were High impedance, and on the '93 they can only burn a tune with low impedance injectors. He suggested I switch to a low impedance injector like the SVO #30 red top injectors. Car runs like a top now!
just a thought.
