Anyone else having problems with this new ETHANOL type Gas???
I've heard alot of things about this new gas with the atleast 10% Ethanol mixture and peoples cars have been ruined and some of them missing and sputtering and just today I put some gas in my car and it started sputtering and missing especially in low rpms and has very little excel. I'm using the 93 too. I'm kinda pist off, got it from shell, I heard their gas sucks newayz. Going to check the plugs etc right now and having MAF problems and SES light is on.

Its all ever thats been available to me since i started driving here in new york. My car has no issues. Its probably something else, people just want to blame it on something so they blame it on the gas.

I used the 10% ethenol blend for 5 years untill I moved out of nebraska. Everyone I knew used the same stuff (the only premium available is an ethenol blend). No problems at all.

Just sayin since I put in gas, it's been acting up and here in TX there have been some proven cases of the gas messing up some vehicles, and it was on the news. But I looked at my codes and it was P0101 and P0135.

The only thing I have HEARD (not self witnessed) about the ethanol was that your gas mileage may suffer, but still should act the same to your motor assuming you are still putting in the required octane level.
As for Shell gas, from all the research I have done, Shell is actually one of the better stations to get it at. Other good ones include Mobil, Chevron, and Texaco.

Here is what I have noticed.
Hess down the street advertises the ethanol type gas on all the pumps. They also are the cheapest gas. I use 91 or 93 i dont remember but im pretty sure it was 91 (Thats premium right?) Car runs OKAY. It does run a little rough and the gas does tend to go down quicker.
Sunoco nearby does not advertise this at all, i dont know if they have it or not. I also use 91 here. They are the most expensive, which is literally a 5 or 6 cent difference. The car runs noticeably better and the gas lasts an entire week longer.
This isnt in my head this is true experience and you can take it for what it is.

Re: Anyone else having problems with this new ETHANOL type Gas???
If you want the best performance out of your LT1, or LS1, you should always put the highest grade of premeium available. (92-94 octane) If all you have is 91, then go 91, but you won't run as well as if you had 93 pumping through your car. 2nd of all, Hess would fall under the category of "a cheap gas station" with probably less than top grade gasoline. So if you are running 91 octane from some no name gas station like Hess, then there is no wonder you car doesn't run well. As for the ethanol, if I had a choice between a cheap ethanol blend premium or a more expensive non ethanol premium blend, I would definatly spend the extra 83 cents for a fill up, and get the non ethanol blend.

Shell does NOT sell crappy gas,
and 10% shouldn't affect much...I don't know if there are any stations around me that don't sell 10% - but this is IL.... problems arise mostly when you get out in the middle of cornfields and you hit 20%, 30% etc...

Re: Anyone else having problems with this new ETHANOL type Gas???
You simply got a bad tank of gas. It happens to me from time to time. When you run the tank fairly low just fill up at another station for a couple weeks and you should be set. AFAIK pretty much evey gas station in Illinois sells gas with 10% ethanol. I've been runnning it for 10 years with 0 problems.
