anyone else have problems geting crank hub off ?

The hub can be a major pain to take out. I'd recommend soaking it with some rust penetrative stuff and leave it for the night. If it doesn't come out the next day, you might want to try a torch or a good heat gun (I didn't think it would work but my friend used one and worked great ) to heat it up well, then take it out.
Be careful with the crank threads. You definetely don't want those messed up.

I had the same problem. Take the bolt out of the center of the hub, then thread it back in a few threads and use your crank puller. You will only be able to get the hub to move so far with the stock bolt. Then you will have to go to a hardware store and buy a longer bolt (the same size thread of course) and use the same procedure with the longer bolt till it comes off. It takes awhile, atleast mine did.

Sorry Eric, I'm still trying to find the right size bolts. You could go buy three or 4 from a hardware to find the one that threads into the hub. Just take the stock ones and find some that are longer to use.

hell no, dont thread the bolt in only a few turns.....thats horrible for the crank threads.
I can send you the tool that i used if you want, i would need some money for it though since i rented it from autozone. I customized it a little. I have all the bolts you need to take it off. Using it, my hub just slipped right off with a couple of turns with my ratchet, not even using a breaker bar. PM me if you are interested.
My hub literally came off in 2 minutes.

ya i was thinking about the torch to heat it up some the car has been sitting for a while ive sprayed it with some lube so i will see if thaat will do the trick
as for leaving the crank-hub retainer bolt in my puller is plenty long enough
but hay its worth a try
anything else would be cool too
thanks

threaded my crank bolt in about half way or so and cranked the bastard off! just did this yesterday and it worked great. on my car i used a wrench.. on a friends car we used an impact and both came off just as easy. if you can get a longer bolt that will work a little better since the crank hub will catch up to the end of the bolt if you thread it in too far.

thats SO hard on the crank threads. you put tons of stress on those fine threads. the best way to do it is to buy a 3/8" grade 8 bolt that is about 5 inches long. cut the threads off, and grind the end smooth. Slip that in the crank so it bottoms out, and then push on that. then you can cut it down some and use it with the 3 jaw puller to get the crank sprocket off.
