Anyone against putting 1.6 rockers on a high mileage LT1?

Just browsing through searchs and hearing som mixed opinions throughout some threads and 2 mechanics telling me the increased lift is too much on a 143K mile motor..

I really dont see any problems with this

just 1.6 rockers and LT4 springs...

I don't see why not, it would be a good time to address some other valve train components such as the springs and pushrods as well.

replace valve seals also. The only thing I think it could possibly hurt is the lifters.

As compared to what....installing on a low-milage car and not removing them when the clock hits 143K....

hehe .. 143k is high miles?? Tell that to my 177k 95 Z28, 218k Impala and my
233k 93 Z28. And to think was was considering doing 1.6/springs to the 93!

If anything it would make your car more reliable, new valve stem seals + new springs.

What all is involved in putting in new seals? Can the heads remain on if you are careful?

rings last a long time and so does the bottom end if not abused... TOO... much. Frequent oil changes maximize engine life. If the car still runs pretty strong and doesn't make strange noises then some new valve train components would definitly help. Most times on SBC its the top end that starts leaking and allowing oil passage into the cylinder. New valve seals springs, retainers, rockers, pushrods, lifters and a cam would freshen up the top end and probably free up some ponies to boot

im not sure i would do a new cam on a 143k motor, it may not take it too well and you would more than likely spin a bearing before too long

Theres no reason to change the lifters/pushrods with s/a rockers and a stock cam.
