No problem, just turn the key on and off a couple of times(but dont try to start). Do this with that vacuum line off. Keep me posted

Well I tried it, nothing happend, and I also pulled the two of the plugs that i could easily get to, and they were dry, could a reason the exhaust smells so stong be cause i dont have a cat?, but again the starter doesnt like turning the motor over at all, it goes about 5 revolutions, while its doing that its trying to start, and then it gets harder for the starter to turn the engine over, but still, it has never just turned the engine over like it did when the car was completely stock. I still cant figure out why its so hard for the starter to crank the engine. Thanks Paul

So let me get this right... did you try turning the crank after the motor was freshly built??? Regardless, with the spark plugs in you are working against compression and it will be VERY hard to turn the engine. If you take the plugs out it should turn fairly easily. I doubt it's a fuel problem since the car will only crank slowly. It's most likely something mechanical. If it was good a year and a half ago it may just need to be pulled, cleaned and checked for rust. Use some proper HP antiseize assembly lube and it should fire up. That's my guess, that the year and half is whats killing it.

Well, you really need to pull all the plugs to check because if it is just one injector then it will just be flooding that cylinder. Or, open the oil fill cap and smell down in there and see if it smells like alot of gas. Thats any easy way to verify.

Well, the oil smells just like fresh oil, and is clean as can be, no metal shavings or anything. Paul

Yes, he could do something like that also. You could pull the plugs out and first check for gas, if none then put some lube in the plug holes and turn it over a little to lube the cylinder walls.

edit: he said it would crank slowly then stop, which could EASILY be a flooded cylinder from a faulty injector.

Well, the only reason mine smelt like gas when it happened to me was because i was driving when my injector decided to crap on me. This gave the fuel time to go all through out the engine. But since you havent run yours then it probably would not be in the oil. I would suggest that you pull all the plugs. If there is no gas then your ok. Just shoot some oil up in the cylinders and turn it by hand WITHOUT the plugs in and it should turn easy. This would allow the rings to get lubbed along with the cylinders. Then just put back on the plugs and try to fire it up again. It still could be a faulty injector, but the only way to check is to pull EVERY plug which is a PITA. Good luck, and i hope i helped you Again, keep me posted

Why would it crank slowly though? Can you crank the engine without the fuel system on?? Like disconnect the coil and pull the fuse for the fuel pump (if there is one, just to disable the pump). And crank and see what happens. If it's a new starter should it crank up quickly even with fuel in the cylinder? I understand if the car is trying to start that fuel in the cylinder would prevent it from turning over but how is fuel going to prevent the starter from cranking the motor up to speed???

Yeah, the engine had been hard to turn by hand even on the engine stand, w/out head on it and everything, and the starter has never had the engine up to speed cranking it, so im not really sure why it is like that, but if anyone knows anyone in around southern ohio to take my car to before I shoot it, that would be greatly appreciated also, thanks again
