anybody run a 242/248 or similar cam in a 383?
I've seen too many people say the cc306 idles like a hotcam in a 383 or 396, I guess because of the stroke. My 383 (3.8"/4.00" bore) has a slightly longer stroke so I figured that my car would as well...I dont like the idea of my car idleing that way, and I want more power, so I figured I'd step up. I've seen alot of people use the gm847 and GTP6, but doesn't seem like it'll be that big of an increase to me. Anyone use the 242/248 XE cam? I'm using ported stock LT1 heads for now, but will upgrade to some ported AFR's later. input (and sound clips
) would be great.
) would be great.
I have a solid roller version of that cam in my 83. (406CID)242/248 .571/.577 110 LSA , right now my exhaust has to 40 series flowmasters dumping in front of the rearend. Sounds like an old school muscle car. makes great power. I am running AFR 195's as well. The car pulls right up to 7000 and feels like it would keep going but I am not ready to push it.
