Anybody port there own intakes? TIPS?
Re: Anybody port there own intakes? TIPS?
I worked on mine a bit. It was actually quite a bit easier than doing the heads. I layed the gasket on the manifold sealing surface and lined up the bolt holes as best I could to get the gasket position as close as possible. From there I just did a simple gasket match on the runners, and tried to keep them the same size for the whole length.
After this I started in behind where the throttle body goes, and tried to flatten or smooth out some of the parts of the casting that protrudes too far into where I thought the airflow coming from the TB might be.
You could also go ahead and open the throttle body bores on the intake to accept a 58mm TB later on, just in case.
