Anybody heard of or used this Engine Builder?

They're called Coast High Performance. Check out their prices on a ready to go, built 383:

I called the guy and he seemed to know what he was talking about. The motor is a shortblock only, no heads/valvetrain stuff, which is good because I don't need that anyway. Anybody ever dealt with these guys that can give me some feedback?

Yeah, tons of Ford guys use them...

I've never used them so I have no opinion, but check this search results:

Don't know what you are looking for, but I don't see anything showing me that those are LT1 engines.

Thanks, that was helpful. Looks like a lot of guys on there use them. There were some complaints about them though. I'm hesitant. But $2599 for an all forged 383 shortblock is a helluva deal.

I called Nu-Tek and the phone number on their website is disconected.

CM Motorsports doesn't answer their phone during business hours apparently.

CHP has been around a long time. Never done business with them but I do have a couple of friends who were/are pleased with their stuff.

I'm with Shoebox though... I don't see any gen 2 engines on their site. Are you looking to put do a gen 1 swap?

No, not at all. I definitely need the reverse cooled LT1 block. I didn't catch that those might just be old SBC blocks... good observation. Anyway I called the guy and he still gave me the same price for an LT1 block, but said he was gonna look further into it and call me back.

Hey how did Shoebox register on this site in 1970? I've been here since 99 and I thought that was a long time.....

Might want to also give DSS a looksee. They seem to have a better rep than CHP...

And don't you forget it.

I'd ask what components are in the LT1 version of their 383, and how many they've actually built.

Maybe Rob was the head of the Department of Defense's Advanced Research Projects Agency (aka ARPA or DARPA). So what do you say Shoe, do you remember ARPANET or was that a little before your time?

-Mindgame <~~remembers ARPANET, TCP/IP infancy and working on BSD real well. Those were the days.

I remember seeing network node drawings that had those gov't names on them.

Shoebox is really the name of a secret gov't project that was the forerunner of those mentioned above.

The admins gave me and some others that registered date. There is an explanation somewhere on this site.

Contact Shaun at Probe.CHP and Probe are almost one in the same.Shaun is the man to tell you any info on the engine building/machine shop work. They'r good people and do good work. A year or so back they had some personel problems in the engine building dept, but that has been resolved.
I know the owner personally and will vouch for them.(not that THAT means much)
