anybody ever hear of this? i think my car is posessed..

On my way to work my car started acting funny. It actually felt like it was running better than normal, no rough idle at stop like it usually had. However all of a sudden whenever i came to a stop and took my foot off the gas in neutral, the car would shut off. Then it shut off again on an exit ramp and wouldn't start back up. Finally when it did, the engine sounded real crazy like something was jumping around inside, i thought i sucked in water at first. Then i put it in first to move and the car went backwards as if in reverse. I shut it off again and got it started, still running a little funny and it went foward and i eventually got it home.. Anybody ever hear of this?

your engine was running backwards. the only time i have ever seen that is with a carburated car with a poorly adjusted carb and a very hot engine. what would make a fuel injected car do that i do not know.

a friend of mine told me that you might want to check out your ECM, i was telling them about your issue, and they told me about one of their expiriences where it turned out to be the ECM. so im not saying that the ECM is the issue, but it may be worth checking into...

I had one run backwards for me one time, the coil wire was loose because the terminal had corroded so badly it pushed the wire off the terminal and it was delaying the coil discharge. Thats a pretty easy thing to check. It was nuts one of my friends drove to my house shut the car off and it didnt want to restart then when it did it ran backwards took the coil wire off cleaned out all the corrosion and closed the terminal back up a little so it would stay clamped on, car fired up and ran like a champ and still does.

went out this morning to try to figure it out, car started up fine and ran a little rough until warm then shut off and wouldnt start again. So i figured it was the ICM and took off the intake and noticed that a ground to the ICM was sliced. Replaced it and the car runs just fine.

I never thought a broken ground would do that to my car, i wish i could have had a camera in the car to hear the noises it was making.
