any1 over 130k on their Z?
my z is a 94 and just hit 130k. the engine itself has been great but just last week i had to replace the battery, starter, 1 window motor, driver side head light and now my console lid just broke. thats $500+ in a week!!!! any similar issues with anyone else???
Re: any1 over 130k on their Z?
Bought mine used in 2001 with 120K now it has 140K. Had a bunch of little problems when I bought it. Console lid just as you mentioned. When I replaced it I wired it so it can't open too far and break the hinge AGAIN. Glove box door wouldn't close right. The hold down for the battery was broke, like who's isn't. Then I had to replace the EBCM. Got one for $25 at a junkyard. Still all in all, very happy. When I was younger on the rice kick I learned that when the ricers get old they cost you an arm and maybe 2 legs. I'll stick with US thanks armed with my Vantage and CG Scanner from Snap-on. The one thing I can tell you is when you have a problem, most of the trouble-shooting can be done sitting somewhere and just thinking about the problem.
Too many people just start replacing things and go from one part to another wasting money as they go. I despise shotgun trouble shooting. It's sloppy. I realize that some people rely on their LT1 for daily transportation and I think that creates a lot of grief for many of them. I don't drive mine every day so I have plenty of time to contemplate a problem. I always recommend that if you suspect something is bad, test the component first when ever possible before you replace it.
I hope you have many trouble free miles and remember, it's easier to do maintenance than it is to do repairs.

I am at 133k i just did heads and cam about 6 montsh ago and put in a electric water pump.
My heater core went up, and so did my a/c but other then that i cant think of any problems i have had recently. I have had my share of things over the years, but nothing major recent.

Re: any1 over 130k on their Z?
i have 140k on mine. Everything has been replaced. Well actually the only thing that is original equipment is my alternator and it worries me it will go out. I usually try to replace my parts before they go bad. I did my waterpump, opti and fuel pump before they ever went out. I just don't like the thought of getting stranded.
Re: any1 over 130k on their Z?
getting close to 150k 94 firebird lt1. Very good car.
Replaced
opti
waterpump
2 driver side windows
both tie rod ends
2 transmissino solnoids
center console is broke halfway
lots of tires
lots of oil changes
I have put about 65k on her since I got her and never broke down. Been a soild car for a daily driver.

Re: any1 over 130k on their Z?
Getting close at 110K. Besides the bolt-ons and the M6 swap the only things i've replaced are the WP and opti at 70K (over 2 years ago... WP killed the opti). Also changed the plugs and wires at the time. Been running like a champ and I'm quite pleased with the car.
Re: any1 over 130k on their Z?
I have a 65K mile LT1 and lemme tell you it isnt much off from a 100k+ car. I have learned one thing about these cars, its generally age that kills crap and not miles. I drove the car 300+ miles a week for a semester and it never gave me any issues. Most crap just gets old and breaks, the miles generally dont hurt these things. Just age, I have been through batteries, starters, an opti a water pump. A lot of the suspendion just gets old, mines has some worn out crap on it. Age hurts more than miles.
Re: any1 over 130k on their Z?
I have 133K on my Z28, and no major probs,
Fuel pressure regulator........started leaking at 110k
Plugs..........replaced just because
Wires.........performance upgrade, not repairs
Broken console lid...........like whos hasn't......saving for newer stlye console
Something loose in passenger suspension.....probably bushing
Window motors are weak.........back burner, I have A/C
All in all, love the car, fun to drive.
oh yeah, gas filler door was loose and rattling, ended up RTVing in place, does anyone make a nice aftermarket piece like seen on some Ricers??

Re: any1 over 130k on their Z?
Have 151,000 on mine. Original tranny, original opti. Motor still runs strong. Water pump has been leaking for the past week, that is going to be fixed this weekend. The window motors are junk, but I am not too worried about those right now.
