There is info on doing a resistance test on my site. This test would be more useful if the coil was dead, though. I feel it is possible for it to show continuity, but still act up at times. It is a lot more difficult to check the voltage output of the coil. If it only acts up in damp conditions, I would say you have a connection problem.

Uhhh.. . . are you talking about how our voltage goes from ~14 to ~16 at higher RPMs ? Because that will make the lights brighter.

I helped my friend fix his '96 TA...it turned out to be a bad coil. The stock coil wasn't open and provided a spark to the spark plugs (plug wire would arc to ground). We bought a tool that had an adjustable gap to verify the spark was weak. A good coil should be able to jump a gap that's greater than a half an inch.

I ran an MSD coil on my 95 Z28 with a Crane ignition. The MSD crapped out in about 10K miles. I'm presently running a Crane PS-91 coil for 30K + miles with no issues.

Ok.. great, thanks guys for all the info and omg 275 for your K&N??? From where? Is it a chain store? I got mine from Karbelt... they are charging a fortune for things.... but it's the only place around!! Besides there all I have is buying things from the states...

I saw a post a while back where some shop put down ~700rwhp on the stock coil. No reason to go aftermarket

For the price of a coil..its worth just replacing it to see if the problem is resolved. Make sure to do your wire as well!!!

My 94Z had the very same issues. Although, my cruise quit working and the FM radio wouldn't pick up anything...As it turned out, the coil wire had backed off the HV post so it was trying jump multiple gaps.
