It's a PITA man. If I'm not mistaken, the alternator pulley nut has to be turned the opposite way of the usual. So instead of Righty Tighty, Lefty Loosey, it's vice versa. Someone may want to chime in and back me up though. You may also want to use a pipe on the end of the breaker bar, for some added leverage. Good luck.

It is lefty loosy, use an impact gun to get it off. it works really well with an impact. You wont have to hold it except with your hand on the fan part. Good luck.

See if you have a pipe or something to put over the breaker bar for more leverage.

Not true. The best way if you need hand tools is to loosen the pulley with the alternator and belt still on the car. The belt helps hold the pulley in place. Have done it to a couple of cars that way, but now that I have air tools, the impact gun is the only way to fly!

well, i guess all cars are different. i needed air, i tried leaving it on the car and it just didnt want to budge for nuthin. same goes for the other alternative methods i tried. just like some people's damn crank pulley falls off when unbolted. i had to get a puller. go figure.
