Rebuilding tranny....

Well my tranny has now went out and I am going to have to get a rebuild.....I found a guy who has been doing rebuilds for 15 years and it comes with a 6 month 6,000 mile warranty for 650 bucks....Uses Borg Warner clutches, kevlar bands and a shift kit but it isnt transgo or b&m and said he could adjust the firmness with it....I was just wondering with a rebuild what are specific things I need to get done to it? And is this a good deal?

sounds good to me... see if he can put a 8 clutch pack set in though instead of 6 from the factory. there are a number of things to add on though or upgrade.... go to LT1DAVE.COM and
look at the list of his transmissions and what he does to them

HOPE THIS HELPS

Always remember that you get what you pay for! What happens if you break down a 150 miles from home....is he going to pay for the tow back to his shop? I'm a firm believer in using a national transmission shop or dealer....but I know that there is a guy on this site that sells rebuilt transmissions at a GOOD price and seems to have a few happy customers on the site. I THINK his name is LPEDAVE or something like that. Do a search on transmissions or rebuilding transmissions and I'm sure you'll find it.

I just saw the last guys post.....I guess it's LT1DAVE! Good luck!

I had a local guy with a good reputation rebuild mine for 750 carryout. I told him what I was doing with it, being honest, and he assures me it will hold up. I know several people that have his builds including a 68 camaro with a big block running one of his 700R4s so I think it should be good. Now if I could just get it back in the car.
