any reason to replace water pump coupling?

I'm going to replace my water pump next week, wondering if there would be any reason to also replace the water pump coupling (connects the water pump to shaft coming out of timing cover). Can those things wear out (car has 120k)? I'm going to replace the o-rings for sure. Only reason I'm asking is the couplings are ~$35 on gmpartsdirect, seems kind of expensive.

Thanks,
Patrick

If it looks worn or that it may slip ofcourse replace it. If it is in good condition use it by all means.

Heoooo No!! I thought I lost mine when I was putting my motor back together, called the Stealership and they wanted a murderous 70 fricken bucks for that lil sonama biyatch. I didn't even ask if they were serious. I'm still thinking they musta made a mistake.

Only reason I can think of is if it's pitted at the seal surface area... or if you lose it..
I just use the bench grinder wire wheel and clean it up...

You could clean it up an then put a dab of new grease on each of the splines before youre reassemble it.

SJS, I am sure they quoted you list price-no mistake. It is an expensive piece.

I just replaced my water pump about two weeks ago. All I did was clean up the splines with some WD-40 and put it back in. I didn't bother to replace the o-ring on the cam drive shaft pin as the original one was stuck on. There wasn't any moisture in there, so I left it alone.
