Any potential downside to installing MSD 6420 ?

Being told by my mechanic that I really need to get rid of my stock ignition with the new 383 setup I have. I have original coil & module and have just started throwing a SES code related to the coil module. The car died on me on the way to work today and wouldn't restart....then started again like nothing happened. So at minimum, I'm looking at probably replacing the coil and module and he's saying I should definately go ahead and get the MSD 6420 and the MSD 8226 Blaster coil. I read a post just now about how the box could fail and/or be hard on the new GM opti I just installed.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!
