any good launching tips for a4 lt1 Z??

Whats up guys im now a new owner of a 96 a4 z38..yes its a auto but i like the consistency on these things..for all of u lt1 a4 owners, whats some good launching techniques you use on the street to lauch your f-body on the street for max traction and lauch(w street tires ofcourse) (like with rpms and whatnot)..also this may sound pretty dorky but the first "drive" postion on the auto WITH the circle over it is "regular" drive right?..or is that the overdrive..what position do you use for the best quarter mile times?...also if you have any two cents on free mods i can do right away please drop some of those too...thankz everyone...late

The one WITH the circle is overdrive. And I personnally launch off idle on the street, slowly pushing the pedal from about halfway to all the way depending on how much it hooks I can sometimes put the pedal straight down, after the intial half pedal. Unfortunately I kinda suck off lights, so you might not want my advise

With good tires you can pretty much hit it full throttle off idle and not get much spin. I have 3.23 gears and the new Goodyear F1 GS D3 tires, and that's my launch technique.

When I race at the track I just put my car in Drive. As for a launching, a lot depends on how well the track is prepped. The only tracks I've been were pretty crappy, so I found I got my best 60' from launching off idle and pushing the pedal about halfway down until I stopped spinning, then I'd ease it to the floor. I've never been able to just floor it.

Flat footing the throttle in one of these cars is pointless unless you have slicks and decent suspension.
I foot brake and run the rpms up to about 1200 and when the light comes down I let off the brake and feed the throttle slowly, well not real slow but you have to feed it not stomp it to the floor. With practice you should be able to feel what the car is doing and act accordingly, I.E. give it more if it hooks or less throttle if it spins.
One of the first times I was at the track I saw the guys layin down the VHT right in front of me so I am thinkin "yes, great traction" so I get to the line and on the last yellow I floor it, spins through first into second and starts going sideways, I let off and putted to the turnoff.
