Any cons of TB Bypass?

Going to perform this mod this weekend. Are there any negative effects? I live in NC so the winters aren't too bad. It does ice and/or gets to low 20's once or twice a year.

Also, could you verify my parts list:

-Barb connector, it's a '94 (What size do I need?)
-Two hose clamps (What size?)

Thanks!

The purpose of routing the coolant through the tb is to keep the tb from freezing (as you probably know). In your weather it is not likely to cause any problems.
Use a 3/8" barbed connector (brass or aluminum, not plastic. For the clamp size, 3/4" should work if you use a worm type hose clamp, or probably 5/8 if you use a spring type (like stock).

Yeah I just did mine today. Havent noticed any difference power wise and I knew I wouldnt. As stated above it is simply rerouting the coolant so that you dont have hot coolant running throught the throttle body which causes the air coming in to be warm and causes the car to not make as much power in turn. I think it would only be an issue if you lived in a place where it got to be below zero alot, but for north carolina you should be ok . There was a guy on here that dyno tested this mod and said he picked up like 6hp, but I forgot his name? The guy had a red ws6 and thats all I remember.

I gained .7 mph from the TB bypass so its definitely worth it, plus its free.

Eh. I didn't notice any performance improvement but every little thing adds up. I did it mainly to have a completely "dry" intake so I can pop it off and not have to drain/refill/bleed/refill/bleed/bleed/bleed the coolant system everytime. Although now that I think about it I guess I could have just pulled the tb off then pulled the intake. Oh well hindsight is always 20/20 goodnight!

The barbed connector isn't really needed. Just get a hose and run it from the steam pipe on the RH head straight to the radiator.

For the 94 model the original poster asked about, he will need a hard lined connection between the two hoses. At least I know I needed it on my 94 last week whenI did this mod.
