any benefit to deleting AIR and EGR?
any benefit to deleting AIR and EGR?
I have been thinking about this for awhile and didn't find alot of info on it, so I figured I'd ask. I'm planning on dropping my 383 soon and upgrading to pacesetter longtubes, and cant decide if I want to go with or without emissions. I could possibly be putting a blower on in the future so it would be nice to maintain the stock AIR and EGR functionality, but they take up the space needed by the supercharger, and I would hate to have to deal with all the AIR tubing out of the car. I have a brand new Delco EGR valve on it and a gutted cat. Any comments?
Re: any benefit to deleting AIR and EGR?
94's are not touchy at all with emissions, as far as how it runs and how the computer responds. You can delete the egr and AIR and your computer will most likely not do a thing. some will argue on hp gains, drivability, etc, but really, with the 94 OBD1 you can deactivate and activate the EGR/AIR as many times as you'd like without much if any ecm trouble.
Re: any benefit to deleting AIR and EGR?
I guess that's what I wanted to hear. I suppose if couldn't hurt to order some headers with the emissions fitting on them and just block them off just in case I ever need them, then pull off the emissions equipment and hold onto it. While I'm thinking about it, does it make a difference to the engine if you run an externally vented crankcase breather instead of running it into the TB? I'm kinda tired of that oily sooty residue in my intake...
