any advantages of having 2:73 gear ratio
Ya grabbing 1st at 35 was great
Now I have 3.42's and their much better for street jousting and 45 mph rolls
but g/m sucks on the freeway 19 or 20 from 25-26 but on the street it went up fron 12 to like 14 though
i should have just left them in there and put a fat 150 shot on there to make up for the machenical disadvantge
i did get rid or that dead spot though

2.73 benifits/disadvantages
Benifits:
1). Better Gas Mileage
2). Better Traction
3). Better Top Speed
4). Tires Stick Better @ Track
5). Run around town & highway at lower RPM's
6). from a roll, they are good
Disadvantages:
1). Less Acceleration
2). No need for slicks
3). Less Torque
4). Less Adrenaline Rush at acceleration
5). Sluggish at times
This is just my own opinion's on this topic. I have a 93' A4 Z with 2.73's and i have a lightly modded engine and i consistently turn 13.7's - 13.8's with my best time 13.75 @ 99 MPH. I have a lot of friends with M6's and A4's with 3.23's and some have even modded more than I have and I have better times then them at the track, or if not then im really close most the time. The gains between 3.23's and 2.73's are very minimal if any, the only thing I have experienced with them is that you may slightly feel like ur accelerating a little faster. Traction is key, 2.73's are good with that, plus the prices of gas these days are killer. Just my opinion.

most of the time when i race i stall it up to about 1800 rpms and when i launch sometimes i spin em a little more than necessary. i remember when i ran my brother (98gtstangm5) a couple months ago when i launched i was almost sideways going into second and had to play catch up (got em by about three cars on the top tho). anyway my question is will this stock 10-bolt rear hold up to a set of drag radials or will they blow it up?
