Question Antiseize Grease on O2 Sensors?

Will the grease ruin the sensor if it is applied to the threads?

It's perfectly alright... some 02's already come prelubed with Antiseize so don't worry about it.

Thanks! Even though I heated up the exhaust system before trying to remove the old O2's, there were in there really tight.

Only on the threads. Other wise, it will damage the o2.

The O2's come with antiseize on them. Do NOT put new antisieze on them. It says it right on the package.(ACDelco). I put antiseize(Permatex Ultracopper) on mine by mistake, but I don't recommend it.

I think you have to get "sensor-safe" antiseize, or is taht for another sensor? Pretty sure its for the O2's though.

I read the antiseize package last night and it says that it can be used on O2 sensors. I will look at the sensors and see if it was pre-applied. Mine came from GM in plastic bags (no box) so I don't remember seeing and instructions.

The GM O2 sensors come in plastic bags, and on the back, it says that the antiseize is preapplied.

Permatex Ultra Copper is not antiseize, it is a Hi-Temp RTV Silicone Gasket Maker.

I put anitseize on the threads of my AC Delco O2's because I had a hard time removing the originals. I just don't trust that their pre-applied antiseize is sufficient. I've had zero issues with mine, so I would say do it.

Oh man, sorry about that. That is not what I meant to say. I did not use Permatex Ultracopper on my O2's. It was the Permatex brand antiseize that I used, in the little white tube, NOT the Ultracopper. The antiseize looks like copper flakes in a gel when you put it on.

Sorry about that. It says O2 safe on the antisieze tube, but since GM says NOT to put it on, then I don't recommend it.

knowing GM it probably says that so when it comes time to remove them they'll be stuck on so tight you'll have to take it back to them.
