Antifreeze in the oil

I am looking at possibly picking up a new project car.
It is a 96 Z28 convertible with 114000 miles.
As the title says it has antifreeze mixing with the oil.
Obviously it could be the head gaskets, but how likely is it that it could be a block issue.
Are these engines prone to head gasket issues.
Also it has a few other small issues, the drivers window doesn't work, and the dash has a crack in it.
Any info would help thanks,
Like what would be a good price to get into it?

Yes, head gasket issues are very common with the LT1.

Worth $2500.00 (off the top of my head) if everything else checks out ok.

if everything else checks out 1800 might be a good deal. don't overlook things such as tire wear and stuff...little things get expensive REAL quick. go over everything thoroughly...if those are the ONLY issues 1800 sounds good to me, if there are other issues ur gonna run into you might just b e better off with a good running lt1 for a couple grand more. sad to say it but 3-4 k will get you one in decent shape with minimal tlc needed.

Re: Antifreeze in the oil

I got my 96z 2 years ago for $4200 that was in good shape with 91,000 miles on it. It was a Florida car with no rust and exterior condition was 8/10, interior is 7/10. I put about 1k into fixing all the little things to make it the way I wanted it, some things were not required but I wanted a new exhaust and the steering rack was a little sloppy. (plugs, wires, opti (went out after about 2k miles), headers, catback, steering rack).

I would shoot for $1500 if everything else is perfect/near perfect, $1000 if it needs some other work.

Around here nice ones go for $4k-6k in the summer. Beat up ones go for $1500-2k. They seem to be about 30% cheaper in the winter.

It is a auto, I already offered him 1500 he turned it down and said lowest is 1800. I did run a carfax and it said it has been in a accident. It looked like the driver fender was lighter color than the rest. I might just hold off and see if he drops the price some more.

yea thats a smart idea considering your gonna probably want to get that fender painted if you noticed it if your **** about your car...dats another couple hundred bucks. i'd do the old "let me know if you reconsider my offer" and start looking at other options. where r ya located by the way?

I'm in Ohio, yeah he told me that the po cleared the car to take care of some dull spots, when I looked up the car fax it says it was in a accident, don't know what type but everything looks real good so only guess is the fender had been replaced.

Re: Antifreeze in the oil

Honestly not even looking for a car right now, was just considering it because of being nearby and seemed like a good deal. I will probably just focus back on my 85 trans am, I am restoring. Thanks for all the replies.
