Anti-freeze not circulating

94' TransAm. OK so i just changed my coolant temp sensor and after filling it back up with antiz-freeze, it won't circulate now. both hoses coming from the radiator are cold and i have no heat. Is this just a matter of getting the system primed? The anti-freeze in the radiator is boiling and the motor is over-heating. help?

Did you bleed the air out?

You probably need to bleed the air out. There are 2 bleeder screws one in the thermostat housing and one in a radiator hose near the alternator. I always just start the car up and crack open the screws and wait for coolant to come out. Then close the screw really quick.

Check the radiator and see if it's full. Be sure it's cold.

Thumbs up 1 more thing

you might wanna check your water pump activity as well. i had a similar problem with my 93 z28. couldn't really tell by looking at the weep hole. i found out by accident when jacking the car up and noticed a coolant run down the front of the block.

Ok i will try that thanks guys, but i've never done this before (bleed air out of the coolant system) You just crack those screws open while the car is running? Anti-freeze isnt gonna come out of them? Thanks, your guys help is much appreciated!

Check the radiator first. Refill if necessary. You want a steady flow of coolant to come out of the bleeders. No bubbling sound of air escaping. Check the radiator everyday until it stays full.

Yes, make sure the system is cold first, then top off the radiator. Although there wont be a ton of fluid coming from the bleeds, you may want to stuff a rag or two under/around the bleeds to catch the fluid. If this doesn't do it maybe a stuck thermostat? Water pump gone south?
