Another Opti ??? Please Help

I have a '94Z. I want to change to the '95 vented setup. I know all about the parts and part numbers to make the swap. What I don't know is if I have to change my waterpump. Will the '95 conversion work with my '94 pump or do I have to get a '95 + waterpump?

If you go with a stock type cam gear, you can use your stock water pump. Only if you go with an older SBC timing set, will you need to change the pump.

Shoebox, I was thinking about getting the hotcam kit also. Is that cam considered a stock type cam? And is it worth upgrading to LT4 timing set? I think it's kinda of pricey but I have 74,000 miles on my car and I'm not sure if I should replace it w/the stock timing set or the LT4. Thanks for the quick response.

If you plan on lots of high rpm running, the LT4 timing set is good insurance. When I said "stock type", I was referring to the gear, not the cam, but that cam is fine.

There are three variations of the LT1 out there. I will have to research and figure out what your timing cover looks like. Big hole or little hole. 94 and 95 are probably the same from what I remember. 93 had big hole cover and 94-95 had small hole with remodeled water pump/
