another lt1 vs lt4 question
another lt1 vs lt4 question
ok guys i am currently on my stock block, with all the bolt-ons and installing long tubes, cam and heads.
now to the opinions...the new trickflow lt1 heads with stock unported intake, or lt4 heads and intake.
i'm probally going with cc306 cam.
1. which heads with make more power lt4 heads with lt4 intake, or trickflow heads with stock intake only ported to fit my 58mm tbody??? if possible how much of a power difference. i dont care about price, because they're about the same
2. now within the next year or so i will be building a 383 stroker, and would like to use the same heads and get about 450rwhp without juice plus probably spray a 150 shot...would the trickflow heads be able to support this, or is it possible to have them ported more than they are now to support this? or is it easier to have my lt4 intake and heads ported to handle more power...what im getting at is, what can support more power and be ported for more potential in the future????
thank you ahead of time for answers
p.s. if you need specs on there heads here goes
lt1 trickflows- 195 cc intake, 75 cc exh, 64cc combustion chambers. 2.02 intake, 1.60 exh
lt4- 54.4 cc combustion, 2.00 intake, 1.55 exh, 195 cc intake runners.
i'm leaning toward the trickflows, but want to make sure they will be able to handle a 383 and eventually put down all that power, i dont mind having them and my intake ported when the time comes.

anyone have any responses??? to your post above i am not porting and polishing heads because i dont know a machinist and dont want to send my heads out, i just want something that i can bolt in and not have to worry about...trickflow is only asking 1300$ or so for these heads and i can rest assured everything is new...
now can me and this guy get sum help????
thanks guys
p.s. any idea what type of power increase i can see with the trickflow heads or lt4 heads over stock heads and cam???

Im pretty sure you can get some AFR LT1 heads for not much more than those other heads, and AFR has been > * in terms of LTx heads.
If you want bolt on performance, AFR would be the way I would go. If not, I would have no prob recommending LT4 heads and intake.

I have been debating this also for when i go heads and cam. I've always heard that the LT4 heads would always be able to handle more than the LT1 heads when it comes to having more potential. Let us know which way you decide to go!

As far as flow, both out of the box vs. LT4, and well ported vs. well ported LT4's, the Trick Flows appear to flow very similar to the LT4 heads.
