Question Another Cam Question??

What can I expect with this cam? Idle, performance etc.?

236/244 Duration .560/.560 lift on a 112 centerline.

Oh yea, CNCd heads, matched ported intake with 58mm throttle body, and long tube headers are also planned.

Not nearly enough information. If you give complete engine specs and exhaust, you might get a ballpark idea.

If stock displacement I think you are going too big(duration and LSA) and will be leaving performance on the table.

Not sure what more you would like to know. Stock displacement and bottom end and, like I said longtube headers with off road Y-pipe with Corsa cat back. I already have a GM Perfomance Parts Cold Air installed. The car only has 18,000 miles.

Flow numbers on the heads and who ported them. Combustion chamber size, which head gaskets, etc. Are you doing roller rockers and springs as well?

I really think it's a shame that you're modding this car if it truly is 1 of 55, but to each his own.

As for my guess now, on a rebuilt shortblock with 11.4:1 compression and pretty good heads and 236/242 cam with more lift and overlap than yours, I put down 373/362 rwhp through the M6 on a mustang dyno with some knock retard holding me back. It would be a solid 400rwhp car on a dynojet with no retard.

Seems like a lot of duration. I'm one of those guys that likes smaller cams, unless the car is going to see more track time then street time. And as far as port matching the intake. That's all well and good if done correctly, but you will probably see better gains if you have it ported by a pro. And as was mentioned, what head gaskets are you going to run? You need something thinner to help boost the compression up a tad with that much duration.

You'll need to spin it past 6500rpms to make its peak power with that cam and stock displacement which is too much IMO for the stock bottom for very long. Thats why mine is coming out and a smaller cam going in....power for daily driving absolutely sucks.

I would say that cam is going to peak way too high to take advantage of it on a stock bottom end. I know a lot of people have done it and had good luck, but I really don't think anything larger than the CC306 or GM847 is reasonable on a stock bottom end. You just have to wind them a lot farther than stock internals are willing to go for extended periods of time.

My plan is to have all of the porting work and head assembly done professionally with 1.6 ratio rolller rockers.

^^^Agreed.

With stock cubes its gonna be a dog on the street without plenty of gear to back it up. Then to make the times it is capable of at the track you will need to spin it past the "safe margin" for a stock bottom end.

Depending on the head flow, a grind with more lift and less duration would be much more enjoyable to drive, peak earlier, and most likely run better times at the track since it will have more time in its power range and not be a turd down low. You can keep the 112, but I would put it on 110 LSA

With some nice gearing I'm sure it will run some great times, just cant say for how long if you have to shift at 6500.
